My Social Media Identity-Rough Draft

Hello, I am Tejash Hira and I started became a Facebook addict on June 8, 2008. I made the account on that day and didn’t really get into till about a year later. It was a month before the first day of my high school career. I saw my brother on Facebook one day and I had no clue what it was till he told me what it was. So I joined in cause it was the thing that everyone kept talking about. I didn’t really know what to do with it because I never had a MySpace and wasn’t into those kind of things. But I got into so much that I would sit on there for like an hour or two updating my information for no reason. I loved it a lot. I would search for all my friends on there to see if they had one, was really excited to have a Facebook. I got into a lot; I was a real Facebook addict. But I was not the only one.

I barely spend 10 minutes on there unless I need to talk to someone that I cant get a hold of another way. But when I first joined Facebook I’d spend about 2 to 3 hours a day on there. I’d either be searching for friends, updating my status, or playing Farmville. I was a real Facebook addict. I once got yelled at for getting on Facebook instead of doing my homework. One of the main reasons I probably spent that much time on there was because that’s all people talked about at school, John did this and Kate did that, was just the hottest thing out at that time. But now I just log on there to see what’s up or to avoid awkward moments. Ill talk to people on there some times but not everyday of my life like I used to. Just not into it as much as I used to be. When I joined my parents were very protective over my Facebook. They set my privacy to where only my friends could see what I was doing. Their were some crazy people on MySpace and it wouldn’t take them that long to get to Facebook.

On August 26, 2008 Facebook had reached its 100 millionth user. It seems like it took a long time for them to get that 100 millionth since it started in February 2004 but no one really knew what Facebook was. I didn’t know what it was till 4 years later. In 2008 Facebook was in a good position for making money. That summer, Facebook was predicted to reach 200 million active users by the end of this year. Facebook was adding between 600,000 and 700,000 users per day, making it most likely to hit the 200 million mark in March. In 2010, Facebook went mobile. Being able to operate your Facebook account from your phone.

That was the first Facebook profile picture I had and yes I know I am weird. I took it from my moms phone and I have no clue why I made that face. After putting that as my profile picture I’ve been told that I am very silly and weird but I like it and probably wont ever change. I never really uploaded many pictures unless it was a worthy picture that would get peoples attentions. The main thing I did on Facebook was play games on there. I was addicted to Farmville that is all I played. Facebook had all kinds of things for people to do on there, like; joining groups with similar interests as you, inviting people to events, playing games, listening to music, chatting with friends, or sharing videos and photos. There are many more things to do on there but those are just a few.

  1. Tejash, overall I thought that your paper was put together well. I think you still have few of grammatical mistakes to work on though. It may be beneficial to go to the writing center on the fifth floor of the library tomorrow.
At the end of the paper you mention that you did a lot more with your Facebook, could you maybe expand on it a little? It would not only help your paper lengthen, but it would help your readers understand what you saw in Facebook and what you found so appealing.
Also where are your sources and 3rd pictures?
