Huxley vs. Orwell

After reading the comic again, first thing that popped into my mind is how we're surrounded with technology. The comic strip view was the perfect way to show both Huxley's and Orwell's point of view. First Orwell's view then Huxley's. Both Huxley and Orwell were correct. What's interesting is the fact that while culturally we tend towards Huxley and politically we tend towards Orwell. The comic said we're getting obsessed with the things we love; we are getting lazier and we don't know it. You never see kids playing outside anymore, they're either playing video games, watching TV, or updating their status on Facebook. McMillen displayed pictures to show illustration so we wouldn't be confused at the points they were talking about. He could have chosen many of different methods but if he did then I would have lost my focus half way through. Im a sucker for articles or books with pictures .

Honey Boo Boo!

What's wrong with people these days? Do people have any common sense? Why would you make a reality TV show of a 6 year old nicknamed Honey Boo Boo? Two million viewers toon in every week to see this girl. Her name is Alana Thompson and she enter beauty pageants. Her mom dresses her up and adds a ton of make up to make her look better. She also gives Alana a drink called Go Go Juice, the little girls drug. Gives her energy to help her do better in the pageant. Thats what makes these people keep coming back. They want entertainment from seeing people doing crazy things. People are attracted to these weird things. I am, I like to see people do crazy stuff all the time but nothing like that. I agree with Mitch Albom when he asked if reality TV was making us pathetic.  Mitch Albom compared the show to a video of Tony Scott committing suicide by jumping off a bridge.
Many of people were there recording it but none of them tried to help but a few officers. What has gotten to these people? People would like to see an extreme couponing mom and a 6 year old beauty pageant winning daughter and watch a famous director commit suicide. People just get famous over some of the craziest things. Maybe I should get a dog and have it compete in dog shows and ill soon have my own TLC show. It could work only not really.

Reality TV

Every time I turn on the TV, I always see some reality TV show on. They are all over the place. I don't think there is any time when I can turn on my TV and not see some reality TV show on. They are everywhere and they keep on coming out with new ones all the time. Its either Dance Moms, Dancing with the Stars, The Bachelor, The Jersey Shore or even The Real Housewives of New York City. Yes I watch reality TV shows here and there but not every week like some people. I have friends who freak out if they miss one episode of their favorite show. Im just in it to watch the drama. Such as Cake Boss, Buddy is always arguing with his older sister because she is always trying to take control. Also they run into many problems when making their cakes. Just so suspenseful. Who else wouldn't want to see people run into the most random events or see people yell at each other over the littles things? But most of the time the producers create drama or suspense to make sure the viewers come back next week to watch another episode. Such as the show Auction Hunters, no one gets that lucky to find a hover boat in a storage units. Yes you can get lucky but not that lucky to find all those interesting things every week. It has to be set up. Like Gold Rush, how do they know where the gold is? I would like to work with them if they find that much gold all the time. Some look to these shows for inspiration, because then they could also do the same as them. The Biggest Loser is probably one of the most inspirational shows ever. Showing people that anyone can lose weight aslong as they have the confidence. Some look to these shows for comfort, because their lives may be much better off than the poor victims from shows such as Hoarders. But in absolute reality, these shows are anything but real.
